Noob Question: Monster/NPC spellcasters
« on: January 11, 2015, 11:25:08 PM »
Hi all --

Just joined the forums, new to Dungeon World.

I'm very intrigued and excited about this game, but I'm fighting 20+ years of "D&D programming".  So I'll probably have some more questions, but I'll start with this one...

How do you pick spells/handle NPC/monster spellcasters?

Do they follow the same rules for PC spellcasting?

Or do they have rules of their own?

I can't seem to find them.

Please advise.

Welcome! All monsters follow the GM Principles, Agendas, Moves. The GM does not roll dice and generally does not follow the same rules as the other players. If you'd like an NPC to have a particular move, like a spell, you should write the move down as a monster move to remind you.

Example: Burn with magic fire! D8 damage. Or whatever.
