Modern PMC's Campaign Idea

Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster.

I’m new to RPG’s in general but fell in love with the regiment when I came across it. I’ve run a few one shots with it but I want to run a short campaign using this ruleset nor have I played Apocalypse World.

What I have in mind is primarily inspired by the graphic novel series ‘Black Powder Red Earth’ and ‘Tom Clancy’s Wildlands’.

Basically, the PC’s will be PMC’s working as ex-special forces types tasked with unravelling a terrorist network.

The rules, as is, will handle the combat side of things fine but I’m struggling to envision what I could do for the ‘speaky’ parts of the campaign. PC’s will need to build networks of contacts to provide them with ‘intel’ which is then used to locate HVT’s further up the network.

The game will be more ‘mission’ based with the players building their own missions as opposed to having stuff flung at them.

I just wondered what your thoughts are on this premise and what you would recommend to run a game more based in ‘modern warfare’ as to WW2.

Thanks
